The Land
“The land dances to the rhythm of different eras. And presently, it’s the time of the Apes.”
Arkouda is a world populated by human-like creatures. Its geography is characterized by lush natural landscapes, divided into four continents.
The Forrest Continent – Home to the Bears. A cold region that has bred tough, resilient creatures.
The Valley Continent – Home to the Rabbits. A warm, sunny region that became the perfect home for artistic, creative creatures.
The Range Continent – Home to the Bulls. A wide expanse of open pastures. The training ground for creatures who are always on the move.
The Jungle Continent – Home to the Apes. A mysterious land whose secrets are still to be revealed. No one knows much about this region, but rumor has it that there is a magical artifact in this region which has empowered the Apes to rule much of Arkouda.
The four continents are situated adjacent to one another, but many continents are floating islands.
At the centre of the map, separated from the continents by a surrounding body of water called The Whispering Sea, is an island with a giant volcano. This is Mount Matakur. For decades, this volcano has laid dormant. But recently, it has started to erupt. The creatures of Arkouda observe this phenomenon with equal measures of wonder, dread and fear. For it has been prophesied that the volcano’s eruption signals a changing of the Era. A new order will soon come into play. No one fears this more than the Apes. Unwilling to let go of their hold on power, they have become even harsher and more brutal to the creatures they rule over. They constantly search all over the land for any instance of rebellion, intent on finding the “bringer of change” and persecuting him/her before he/she can fulfill the prophecy.
